Welcome to Unit 2:
The "Shoulds" and Comparison Trap
Hey there, Champions!
Welcome to Unit 2 of the Champion Mindset program. In this unit, we’re diving into two heavy hitters that we all struggle with at one point or another: the “Shoulds” and the Comparison Trap.
This is the kind of stuff that can make you feel… well, let’s be honest, like absolute UGH! You know what I’m talking about, right? That internal dialogue that makes you beat yourself up or hold back from something you truly want in life because you feel like you don’t measure up to others. Sound familiar?
Trust me, I’ve been there. Especially with the Should Trap. I used to have these constant scripts running through my head:
I SHOULD be better!
I SHOULD know this already!
I SHOULD have seen that coming!
I SHOULD [insert self-criticism here].
And on and on it went. Here’s the thing though—what if I told you that falling into the Should and comparison traps is completely normal? Whaaaat?!
Yes, you read that right. Comparing ourselves to others and being critical of ourselves is something everyone does. The trick isn’t about eliminating those thoughts entirely (spoiler: that’s impossible!), but learning how not to let them take over your life or pull you away from who you truly are.
That’s where we’re going this week. We’re going to continue to dig into the vortex of discomfort, acknowledge those Shoulds and comparisons, and work on not letting them control your choices or derail your growth.
What We’ll Cover in This Unit:
5 ways to stop comparing yourself to others: We’ll break down practical strategies for shutting down that constant need to compare and finding peace within yourself.
The concept of all-or-nothing thinking: This mindset is a major trap when it comes to perfectionism. You’ll learn how to shift away from black-and-white thinking to something more balanced.
The Dial Method: This is one of my favourite tools! It’s a simple but powerful way to turn down the volume on those overwhelming thoughts and find a more sustainable pace.
The best part? You get to choose how to engage with these strategies. Some may speak to you right away, and some might take time to click. The beauty of this process is that it doesn’t have to be perfect—how crazy is that!? It’s that perfect imperfection that allows you to grow at your own pace.
So, are you ready? Let’s get started with this perfectly imperfect unit.
Remember: Stay curious. Take your time. And most importantly, have fun with it. At the end of the day, all I want is for you to Just. Be. You!
To the Champion in YOU!
